Haha, he did say he was IT but im pretty sure the only reason he got into her facebook is because he was doing work on the laptop and she left her facebook account logged in or saved the login info.

I dont think he went out of his way to hack into her facebook.

I really dont see anything good here.. Why would anybody want their bussines out so everyone can see it...
Why waste a good laptop.. Shooting the laptop was just plain needed special effects or a bigger gun make interesting.. Your child is a reflection of you..

i kinda felt the same way at first. but then i thought about it. laptops are easy to come by, at least for me. i have like 4 that i have acquired for less than $50 each. and working in IT he proly comes by them soo easily.

Well, in his response he says that they made a facebook for their dog, that rarely gets used. The daughter blocked her parents and the church people from seeing her post, however forgot about the dog. They had logged in to the dogs page to upload a video, and the dog has very few friends, so the daughters old posts show up in the news feed. If I remember correctly the post of hers was about 2 weeks old.

not my idea of good parenting. Imagine if someone who wasnt her father did it...

"well betty, you posted mean things about me on facebook. I found your laptop... *bang bang bang* ... hope you learned your lesson."

Pretty sure (outside of petty theft for stealing the laptop) that person would be facing some kind of criminal charges. In this case, because its the father whos completely off his rocker, it's okay.......

I find it on the line of intimidation.

Now, before someone says "of course its intimidation! he's her father! he deserves respect." he's not taking the belt off the hook... hes not holding her computer over the bathtub... hes not taking her door off it's hinges... he litterally took a firearm out, discharged it, and claimed it to be "punishment" and "parenting" because she was "naughty on facebook" .... .... i pray this is the only time this loony-toon is on the news...

I think you're looking too far into it Chris.

My parents (mostly my mom) threatened destroying our home computer once when I spent too much time on it instead of doing my homework and I do believe fully well that they would have done it. And this was back in the dialup days. The girl doesn't NEED a laptop, it's a privilege, and if the father believes she doesn't deserve it, I don't see any reason why he can't take it away, no matter how flamboyant he was in getting rid of it.

Well, he also noted that he was doing it as a way of her to learn responsibility. She has had everything given to her, and doesn't respect the presents she gets. He said something to the effect that if she got a job and paid for it herself, he wouldn't have done that. But in reality, it was his computer.

I think it was fine.

He bought her the laptop, if he wants to go put it in the freezer under water to make it into a block of ice, its his choice. I would like you to imagine that was your daughter that wrote those things, now go in and explain to her why it was wrong and hope it doesn't happen again? Don't think so.... I agree with the above that a laptop was an expensive lesson for her to learn about but I hope she has to buy her next one.

Don't forget this wasn't the first time. Time before she was grounded for 3 months, and was warned next time would be way worse
