Some of you may know that on Christmas I bought my daughter a 98 Gt Vert. Well, the next day her and I drove to the auto parts store to get a license plate frame for it. As we were in line waiting for coffee stopped in a drive through line a young girl backed directly into the side of the car, denting the passenger door, front fender, and small damage to bumper. Also, immediately thereafter the airbag light came on. The girl who hit us was covered by progressive and they've approved the claim. The car only has 67k on it and is all original paint with zero accidents in it's history which was very thorough in Carfax and autocheck. Seems to have been garage kept as it has ZERO rust anywhere including the undercarriage. So, progressive made us use their body shop for the estimate but it was in fact a progressive employee who did the estimate, not an employee of the body shop. I say this as the body shop is a reputable one and I would think they'd know cost better than progressive. Also, they wouldn't write up anything for the air bag code as they said they can't until someone can prove it's from the accident. I'm getting a code 51 which is memory full on airbag control module which could be a rather expensive repair. So what should I watch out for with regards to the work? It's all black with no metallic but original 20 year old paint. I want it to match. And how do I know if an accident will now be reported to auto check or Carfax. Lmk what you guys can offer in the way of advice. Thanks in advance.
