Hey all... another one of those kick @$$ "my car makes a funny sound" threads...

when I come to a FULL stop (and your cars weight shifts back) i hear and feel a "pop." I beleive its from the front end because I feel it in my floor board and petal, not my butt of my seat.

also, it occationally happens when going over a bump.

it only happens 25% of the time (if that.) it took me about 10 tries to show one of my friends tonight.

the thing is... i replaced EVERYTHING on the front end of the car... so i have NO idea what could be making the sound.

new cobra conrtol arms (FRPP)
new sway bar end links
bbk gripp springs
tokico (used) shocks
MM CC plates
MM bump stop kit
99 cobra steering rack (used)
MM aluminum rack bushings
brand new drilled rotors (stock size)
brand new brake pads (OEM replacement)
brand new brake dust shields
new bushings all around
MM solid motor mounts
MM solid steering shaft
brand new yokohoma 520 tires

Please note: my bump stop kits were loose on teh steering rack, so i tightened those.

i mean, the only stuff stock left on the front is the k-member, the sway bar, and the steering spindles... and i doubt they are the problems... well, maybe a wheel bearing? whats left? it just started this the other day...i think ill check the caliper bolts to make sure they are still tight. other than that, im out of guesses. i checked a few things today, but i dono what else to do than to make sure some nuts are tight and to tug on a few things and to turn the wheels. lol.

Usualy when I hear a pop like that I think shocks/struts. Since yours are used, It might be a good place to start. Jack up the car and check the shock/strut bushings, and sway bar links and bushings.

you dont have strut bushings since you have MM CC plates. i have a similar pop, havent tracked it down yet either.

I am having the same problem. So far the only thing I have not replaced are the shocks or wheel bearings, but the wheel bearings check out ok (no wheel play), so I assume that it has to be the shock absorber. Externally everything checks out, so maybe it is something internal???. By the way the shocks are KYB AGX's
Post your solution when you find it.

I am sitting here holding my Tokico shocks, and there is a bushing at the top where it mounts at the shock tower.

There might be some pics here http://public.fotki.com/marywillowmoon/matts_stuff/project-car/ if you want to browse through all 18 pages. But I don't think so.

if you are refering to the front strut bushing, the MM CC plates replace that rubber bushing with a bearing.

There you go, no need to check something you don't have.
