Pops out off gear (1st and 5th)

From a stop 1st will sometimes pop out and 5th does it sometimes too. What could be issue?

It has been my experience that what you are describing indicates worn synchronizers. It will require total disassembly of the transmission and it would be money well spent to go ahead and do bearings and seals.
Not a big job if you know what you are doing and have a place to work. Maybe freshen the clutch and throwout bearing while you're at it.

You can check your stop bolts. But I'm gonna assume it's the trans. As stated above you need to have it opened up and synchros done. It would be wise to have the rest of it gone through with new bearings and seals.

Now... at MINIMUM you need to take the clutch off and inspect. It would be wise to replace the clutch and have the flywheel resurfaced. Also replace the pilot and throw out bearings. Also a good time to inspect the rear main seal as well.

How many miles does this car have on it?

If your not the original owner, don't be surprised if the reverse brake cone has a broken tab. Many liked to ram it into 1st from reverse or 1st to reverse. The 2 brass blockers on the 5th gear may be badly worn as may the dog teeth on 5th and 1/2 slider. ( only 1 blocker in a standard rebuild kit)

I rebuilt one back in march and above was obvious. Previous owner said there was no 5th, I found the tab broken on the reverse cone, snap ring off the 5th driven and 5th driven moved off the splines on the main shaft. Yah, there was no 5th alright.
