power adders on an engine with hyperutective (probably spelled wrong) pistons?

I'm new to this forum. This subject may have been discussed. How reliable would the engine be? I don't race or plan to race. I think the most bang for the buck is a power adder, but I was told not to use one when the pistons are hyperutective.

Thanks for responding an the correct spelling. I have a 94 5.0. Looking for extra power, the least expensive way. Any suggestions to which power adder, and why? Also, a quality shop for installation an tunning in northern ohio.

Well, for starters, I'd wonder how many miles your ride has, that's good to know so we can gauge how worn your engine is. Second, if it's bang for the buck, nitrous is hard to beat. After that, search the forum for the $1500 vortexh supercharger guide, or the on3 performance turbo setup.

As for why nitrous, etc. well, the blower and nitrous don't mess up your emissions so you can still go thru smog inspections. The turbo setup replaces the h pipe and cats, so it can be out of the question for many people. The most efficient setup, and possibly the best in the long run is the turbo, though install of either the blower or turbo kits can get expensive.

My 94 GT has 46,000 miles, an they are easy miles. No one has driven it except my wife an I. I checked into nitrous am decided I want the extra power all the time.

Damn, 46k is awesome! If I was in your shoes, id look into a blower setup. that way, its still smog legal, easier to install than the turbo setup, and the power gains are somewhere around 50%. so 225hp*.5=340-ish HP after the blower install on an otherwise stock engine. Btw, I think we need to see some pics of this car.... haha.

there is nothing wrong with hypereutectic pistons with a power adder. the rotating assembly in your motor is stronger then the block itself so install whatever you want, get it tuned properly, then proceed to beat the living snot out of it.

for the nay sayers, my stock 1993 shortblock (hypereutectic pistons) made over 560 rwhp for more then 5 years, and had 100s of 1/4 miles passes on it plus the constant street beatings. had zero issues with that motor and was only pulled to install a different motor as the stock shortblock had over 140k miles on it.

I think the reason hyper-you-cracked-it pistons get a bad name is poor tuning (and the results of that poor tune).
I ran the stock hypers in my V6 under a lot of boost and they did just fine (until I upgraded to a forged bottom end). I've seen rods bend before pistons give way.
