Yea, just over 400 horse, the pistons and rods turn to dust. The block itself can handle significantly more, but the rotating assembly is the weak point.

Exactly. I met a kid once who told me he had over 5 on his 2v with stock internals. I laughed. He laughed back and I said I would love to see the papers. He said ok but never did show me anything. In short it can handle about 4 with a safe mind. Anything close to 450 and you gotta worry a bit. But once you get to 450 and want to keep going...just do it. Thats what cars are for right? When is enough actually enough?

The owners son @ Kauffmans in Dillberg PA was running over 500rwhp for many years on his stock shortblock. His tune was spot on though considering that is what the shop was famous for. It can be done but like said above usually you will have issues in the mid 400 range.
