I am pretty proud of my race car... I have turned it into a street car at this point. The car has gone as fast as 10.76@122 at 5800 ft (9.90s at sealevel), but only once, because the car did not have a cage in it or anything. It also had no exhaust.
This winter I have put a 12 point chromoly cage in the car. I also have put the carpet back in, the door panels and the center console back in. The car now has a passenger seat now too. I have put a 3 inch X pipe on the car with 3inch Mac Flow dumps.
I have always run the car on Sunoco Purple, 110 leaded fuel. It cost 7.15 a gallon this season, and since it is now a street car, I figure i would like to try to get it to run on less octane. I dropped the timing down to 20 degrees total, and put 91 pump gas in it (most we can get at this altitude). Car only has an 8 Gallon fuel cell. It is getting nearly 6.5 MPG, and I have put over 75 miles on the car in the last three days. The car never over heats tranny never gets really warm either.
Sunday I ran in a True Street Class at my race track. Kinda an experiment. It was a roughly 30 mile cruise (half in town stop and go, and half on the highway) and then a 15-30 minute cool down period where the hood could not even be opened. After that it was 3 hot lapped passes, where the motor was not even shut off, all 3 passes were within 10 minutes. Car ran consistent times and decent times for the engine being warmed up. 12.75, 12.71, 12.69, (low-mid 11s at sealevel) all on pump gas without any nitrous. With some nitrous i could have sprayed it into a the tens easy after the cruise, but I don't have a feed line anymore. Still have to buy one.
Here is a video of it on the street. I got to get the speedometer working, but other than that, I wouldn't hesitate driving it anywhere in town. Not enough fuel for a longer drive... Cant wait to get a blower on the car... 10.50s with a few pounds of boost, and 9s on lots of boost all at my altitude! Its in the works right now!
