So I have a 97 cobra with 51k miles with the last 20k or so with a p1 procharger. Ran great, not really as fast as I would have liked but pretty strong. Anyway was out beating on it and something finally let go and it started smoking bad got home and pulled the plugs, 2 and 3 were covered in oil. Soooo that's why I was wondering about engine swap options?? In a perfect world I would forge my teksid or buy a short block it just seems out of my price range?? About 2000$$ went to a machine shop where I live and he said 3000 plus parts to build it wow. So that's why I said swap options because I see these aviator engines complete for 1500? So it will be a aluminum block and it will get me some c heads to so this is what I'm leaning towards at the moment what are the draw backs of this? I know the flywheel but what else. If I got to spend $ on bunch lil stuff prob blow the budget. What can anyone tell me about the stock navi 5.4??they are even cheaper around here. I really didn't want the extra weight of the iron block and the 5.4 but I'm listening if it makes sense. I really don't want a mark8 engine even tho that's basically what it came with. Tho price wise it can't be beat. I'm not trying to set the world on fire with hp #'s just trying get a fairly plug and play engine to put in there while I slowly build my teksid over time and still be able to enjoy the car now and if I could get something that's a lil bit of a upgrade or has some parts I could use in the future that's what I wanna do.
