I see alot of build threads and while looking through them lots of good ideas and help show up so i figured i would start my own
picked up a 97 gt from oe of those pay to own places paid 3400 (shoulda paid less i know)
got it home and dug into it... it drove ok but good god everything was blow out!
4x4 stance gone
American Muscle had the hook up on a great suspension kit. i also did the brakes...all of it because every caliper and rotor was bad and warped (WTF)
the clearcoat was shot and this is a budget build so i started the plasti dip
also what rims are these?! i snagged them for 100 bucks just to get it rolling straight.
swapped them for some 18's at a good price
i dont have photos for all the repairs but a small list of the headaches ive run into.
after market car alarm removal --- worst idea ever
neon removal--- i didnt know these were still a thing
COP conversion -- cleans up the bay alot!
clutch kit --- yup thats fun
replaced every weather seal!--- junkyards ftw
rebuilt the rear end and put 3.73s in it--- figured out at this point whoever owned the car prior beat the crap out of it
future mods to follow real soon (if deal doesnt fall through)
5.4l swap --- its happening
piston upgrade --- mmr got me covered here at a great deal (good people!!)
cams --- Comp to the rescue!
intake manifold --- HPS if they would pick up the damn phone
interior gut --- then covered with aluminum panels
sound system --- dont care if its a racecar or not i need tunes
Nitrous --- im going big and im taking risks in this catagory
Tune --- i need PATS, egr, o2 all deleted! then this 5.4 tuned to not fall on its face at 5000rpm
and before the flaming begins
a 5.4 swap is not "dumb" or a "waste of time" it works the tq is nice and if you build it up little by little it makes great power! this is my second 5.4 swap and im learning from past mistakes. with my parts list and what i have done in the past i will break 300hp 350 tq NA and it should (key word is should) handle a nice juicy 200 shot.. now that t45 is going to jump outta the car for sure but time will tell
