Project Hatchet

Hey Guys hows it going, My name is John and This is my newest project car. This car has always been around me since I started driving.. My Best friend (Karl B.) who is more like a brother to me owned that car since he was 17 (12 years). The last 18months the car has just been sitting since he is now in St. Martin going to Medical School. Well about 3 weeks ago he had a chance to come back to the states to visit and i was lucky enough to get to send some time with him. Well long story short... He gave me the car.. His mom hated it, it was always in the way when they needed to mow and it would never start for them... therefor it was a a giant pain the rear. I was told that I needed to come back and pick it before they sent it to the junk yard no joke... well here she it.. I named the car Hatchet as a joke... however it has since stuck. It earned that name because there is a honest to god hatchet wound in the dash on the passenger side... lol What ever I think it adds character! I honestly don't plan on replacing the dash simply because it reminds me of good times growing up haha.

Hatchet:
1998 Crystal white vert,V6/Auto, Gray base model interior that didn't clean up as well as i thought it would however one day it will black so I'm not to worried about it. It does have a Cervini's Stalker hood on it and that is the only MOD done to the car.

Plans -
1. New Black Cloth convertible top
2. Supsension I hate the 4x4 stance - open to suggestions
3. Wheels and tires (AMR 19" sliver)
4. Brakes - I forgot how much of a difference Cobra brakes really make with a good pad
5. New seats front and Rear
6. Stero

I will leave it as a v6 for quite awhile because it is my daily driver and I have a daily commute of about 70 miles a day. With that being said I just want a NICE daily driver that handles, stops, while looking good at the same time

Wow man, that confirms exactly what I have been thinking! Those will be the wheels I go with... Hands down differnt and still awesome. Any chance you can turn the top black and the front a-pillars around the front window black? That's where I'm going next

A little bit of an update. I have honestly been a bit lost for awhile. My best friend/brother, (Karl) He was the one that actually gave me the car passed away a day or so after his 30th Birthday August 24th 2013...about 3 months after i got it. I went through periods of not wanting to do anything to this car, not drive it(which is tough when its your daily), just preserve it the way it is..... to completely wanting to change everything.
Finally, as of lately I have decided that he gave it to me to take care of, and would ultimately want me to be happy and have a good time with it since he was no longer doing so... I have started making my List of TO Do's again..

Plan of Attack- to be completled by fall - keep in mind Im not able to spend much on it at a time so its a slow build.


First round of MODS - Making it a warmer/safer daily drive

New Black convert. Top - Purchased, but not installed
New Heads Lights - Purchased
HID kit - Purchased
Fix paint around a-pillars and paint black - awaiting money
Tint windows - awaiting money
03-04 Cobra side mirrors - awaiting money
s281 wing - awaiting money

Second Round of Mods - getting rid of the 4x4 stance, sloppy shocks, and crappy brakes

New black carpet
New Black Procar by scat seats
New plastic around HVAC and door panels

Just rambling,

No updates right now, We have a new little girl plus a 3 year old son keeping us crazy busy! Honestly I haven't had the motivation to get out and install the few pieces that I have for it yet. I have just been driving it and enjoying the weather. It's funny driving a V6 car that's an automatic.. Gutless and slow would be the key words... Lately all of the nice cars have been out driving... Makes me wonder how this car is going to take shape.. Every time I hear a mustang roll by that has a little cam and exhaust on it.. I instantly think, ok that's it! I will have to have something done about that v6.. But then I fill up the tank and realize it's getting 28-29 mpg and I think hmm.. Maybe it's just fine.. Time will tell
