That is the nice feature about the way I have mine set up. The actual key CANNOT be used to start the car. Plus the fact that YES the pushbutton start is obvious when the ashtray lid is open, but when the safety switch is off, the pushbutton start is useless. No one knows which is the safety switch either as none of the switches are labeled.....

because without the the key in the ignition, the car still will not start....For mine the key has to be in the ignition, turned to the on position, the safety switch also has to be turned on before the ignition button can be pressed. If one of those two things is not one....car will not start.

It has honestly not been a issue with mine so far. Best thing about the setup is that it is located in the Ashtray compartment, so the lid can close. You would never know its there unless the lid was open. If someone was to grab my key and the lid was closed (Almost always is) and they tried to start the car using the key, it would just act like it had a dead battery, meaning that the lights on the dash and everything will come on, but started will not click or turn.
Honestly has saved my skin on one occasion. Had a huge bonfire out near the house, and I had parked the stang near the Bar stand. Got thrashed that night drinking Rum and Coke, and good German Festival beer. Went to go drive the car back to the house, and got pissed off because it would not start. Girlfriend couldn't help but laugh at me because I was too drunk to remember that it had the pushbutton start...
