Yea something like that. Ive seen that one before and there is one where its a push button. Ive seen here there a couple of members that have done this little mod to there stangs. Ive read that some even used the S2000 start button since it lights up. yea you put the key into the on and push the button. Ive seen a supra on youtube that has like the maxima or altima push button start up that doesn't require a key just the a transmitter.

The remote transmitter with a push button, would be cool. But if you still have to put the key in the ignition, whats the point? lol

there are aftermarket alarms and keyless entry kits that do remote start, not sure how it would work with PATS though.

DISCLAIMER ABOUT THIS THREAD:

NO POSTS CONTAINING " Whats the point? " OR ANY VARIATION OF THE SORT. THIS MOD IS FOR THE 'cool' FACTOR. IT HAS NO PERFORMANCE GAIN SO PLEASE DO NOT TREAT IT AS SUCH. THE CAR BELONGS TO THE OWNER AND IF HE WOULD LIKE TO MODIFY IT WITH AN ENGINE START BUTTON, SO BE IT. DO NOT HARASS THE OWNERS ABOUT THEIR DISCISIONS TO MOD THEIR CARS TO ADD THEIR OWN PERSONAL TOUCH.

JiMi_DRiX - I'm not aiming that at you. Just a general statement because it usually happens in mass.

To answer any body who posted and the OP. The way I have it wired is so that you have to putthe key in the ignition and turn it to the on position before you can use the toggle to start the car. It's a pretty neat little gadget to show off to lady friends. :) and the turn key start is maintained so in a normal circumstance you can turn and go like usual.

My circuit is super easy! And an S2000 push button could very easily be substituted. I actually am planning on getting one soon. Essentially what the circuit does is takes power from something that gets power when the key is turned to 'ON' like the radio or cig liter, and when the switch or button is engaged sends the power to a point in the ignition circuit downstream from the key. So in my case it goes to the clutch pedal check switch. Which applies power to the start circuit triggering the staterter. I'm sure an auto could do the same thing with the 'Park detector' switch. So it's actually a really easy mod.

Another side not is depending on which wire you put your power to on the clutch check switch you can bypass it all together. Which basically tricks your stang into thinking that the clutch is fully depressed and attempts to roll over the engine. So you can actually leave it in 1st gear and it forces the starter to push the car along. Which is of course not good for the starter. But I'm missing the point here. If you're a lazy ass like me and don't want to depress the clutch every time you start the car, once you check the shifter to see if it's in neutral you flip the swich or push the button and the engine springs to life. It's a very cool and satisfying mod.

you can easily bypass the clutch switch by running the start wire to the starter relay. I had to do it on my truck for the remote start but the alarm makes sure that the car is not in gear before starting it.

My only concern with your definition is that it tells you to get power from the cig lighter to driver the starter. The starter is a high current device that takes alot of amperage to turn, and because of this the wires driving it are a minimum 12 awg. You could get it to work for a while by just tapping the cig lighter for power but I think you are going to blow fuses or melt wires after prolonged use.

ttocs- i'm almost positive the circuit i'm referring to that the power is sent to from the push button start triggers the relay for the starter. i could be wrong. i need to check my haynes manual for verification. I've used it a couple of times with no hot wires or tripped fuses.

JiMi_DRiX - its actually really easy to hook up

and 98Nor*CalStang - just look for an S2000 engine start button. can be had for between 40-80 bucks.

The first link u posted for the push start button looks awsome. Kinda expensive for a button lol $100. But that one the whole button lights up so that's koo. I think I would mount my button where my cig lighter is since it doesn't work have no used for it and I really would prefer drilling any new holes

Is it really? I would still be a tad nervous about messing with my ignition. Can you at the same time do something with a remote start as well?
