I have an oil temp gauge to install. Its autometer, and electric. Im wondering if I can get the right fittings together could I put the sending unit into the oil pan plug? (I'm speaking of the bolt that you remove to do oil changes).
Thanks.

The oil pan plug is supposed to be just that, a plug. Putting a big fat (or... tall) sending unit there risks it getting torn off. Also, it's not really designed to be continually removed/installed. This is what I cautioned you about when you bought the gauge - you need a port in the pan to install it. You said that you had an aftermarket pan and everything was taken care of?

Turns out the aftermarket pan does not include a port for the sensor. Looks like Ill be dropping it off with huber for the tap in the oil pan.
