Went to the track this past friday and still couldnt cut some good ET's but thats another story. Well this morning i was loading up his drag radials to take them over to his house and noticed this...

inner-tire-bulge.jpg

What you're looking at is the inner bulge of the tire. Is this normal, or could this be why we havent really been cutting good times on these tires. The rims are stock 99 cobra rims and the tire is a 275 size nitto drag. My best 60 i have been able to cut on these tires is a 2.1. Or am i not holding my mouth right?

if you want traction screw junk drag radials and get slicks....but if you like radials then keep them around 20-25 psi and do a good burnout to get the compounds warm

yep they've got too much air in them, 555r's seem to wear the best with about 22psi. they hook the best for me with about 18psi and a real smokey burnout, they need to be HOT.

Reason why your cutting 2.1s is b/c your using Nitto's. Get some MT DR's, BFG's or some slicks if the rear end can take it.

sigh, Nittos are plenty good for sub 2.0 60'

No its not, it all depends upon your track. Each one is different, each one preps them more or less then others. You cant say for fact that X tire will cut you X times.

I didn't, i just made a general statement. I've talked to a few people that have better luck w/ the Nittos than the BFGs and obviously you hear the opposite also. I just hate hearing about how Nitto DRs are not good, its garbage.

You hear more bad about Nitto's then good and its due to the fact that they are the least sticky DR on the market. They last the longest but they also give up traction b/c of it. Some peole get really decent times with them if the track is prepped good but thats not always the case. They are a great sticky street tire and will last a long time on a non daily driver but for track duty there is much better options.
