so i'm ready to tune or get my car tuned. i called dallas mustang and hpp racing and talked to the dyno guys. DM wants to charge $120 per hour plus $300 for the chip, and it usually takes 2-3 hours. HPP charges a flat rate of $500 including practically unlimited runs and the chip. its $35 extra if they have to adjust the timing, so $535.

my questions:

1. They say i need an SCT chip if i dont buy one from them. what are my chip choices and where do i get them?

2. If i go with one of these 2 places to get my car tuned, which sounds like the better choice?

3. is there a better alternative to tuning my car for basically the same price?

i tried buying a mail order chip from kenne bell, sence i run there blower setup. came with new mass air and chip. car wouldnt run, bearly start. they sent me another one( charged me too) and with a mix and match of the two, car would run, but not much better than the pro-m 80mm i was using. i have over a $1000 in just kenne bell chips and mass air, and i had to take my car to the local dyno, spend$500 for them to erase the chip and reprograme it. but it runs great now. dyno shop the only way on 94-95 cars. and most chips are sct or made by sct, mine are. I dont the dallas area, cant say what shop to go to, prices seem in line. but let me know if you want a 90mm mass air and 2 stage chip, ive got one extra :hammer:

AM I reading this right? You have an 80 mm Pro M that you aren't using? Is it calibrated for 42 lb injectors?

yes 42 lb and pro-m says a supercharger. looks pretty sittin in my room.

to use this mass air you have to cut the socket that connects to it, and replace it with some oddball size. i dont know how intrested you are in doing that, i can take pics of what i did if you like.

Cut the socket? That sounds like a Lightning meter or one that was setup for an OBD2 car.... post a pic of it and the connector.

If it is a Pro M do you want to sell it still?

to original poster:

i went through this on my car with the chip selection, etc etc, dont do the mail order tunes they are worthless, you spend $300 for the chip $65 for the first dyno, u send the chip in they send it back you take your car to the dyno $65 again, WTF chip still not tune for the car so you send it back, its never ending!!! im not a huge fan of the SCT chip parameters, how ever the diablo sport revolution chip is very versatile and id highly recommend using that chip after i saw all the parameters, but before u buy any chips make sure you find some one that can tune it for you and make sure he does good work! many cars shorten engine life on bad tunes.

about MAF: dont cut the connector...if its a lightning MAF they make an adapter to go from the lightning plug to the sn95 plug, if its a Pro-m style plug , pro-m makes an adapter to go from their maf to our sn95 plug

Before widebands people still used tweecer, they just read plug's alot. Tweecer looks nice, really nice.

Widebands are cheap nowadays anyway.
