I have a 2000 gt, and as yall all probably know, the stock brakes suck!! I am looking to upgrade and have thought of a few options..

Option 1:
Keep the same calipers, upgrade the rotors, ss lines, HP pads, dot4 fluid paint the calipers

Option 2:Sve front brake kit (http://www.latemodelrestoration.com...stang-Sve-13-Inch-Front-Cobra-Style-Brake-Kit)

This car is a daily driver with auto x plans in the future! Please feel free to suggestions and personal experience!!
side note; i have 17x8 american muscle bullitts up front, so the cobra r brembos wont fit.

Go for sve kit, or some type of twin piston setup. I'm not sure for the new edges but I believe the newer gt's came with twin piston PBR setup. All I know is single piston sucks bad. One of the worst qualities of GT is the brakes especially (94-98). If your going to autox the car, your gonna get serious brake fad since your going to be on the brakes so much. some ventillated rotors, twin piston setup, ss's lines and your good to go. I haven't crossed over yet, but friends say its night and day difference in stopping power.

option 1 is cheap, but you dont want to be disappointed when it doesn't live up to your standards. Remember more clamping force faster the car stops.

I know the calipers on my car are 2 pistons.... what makes the sve/cobras so much better aside from the 13 in rotors

Some people are amazed by just a simply brake pad swap. I mean you already plan on spending a bunch of money on everything else, what if a really nice set of pads do everything you are looking for? There are MANY good companies out there making them............

Id go with the sve front kit I have oem cobras all around on my car and at first I only had the front and that was a night and day difference alone . You won't be disappointed dude.

I thought that would be my best bet... so the calipers in the sve kit are essentially cobra calipers?

Yes, they are brand new cobra calipers. If I had to do it all over again, I would get that kit. It's such a good deal.

My V6 stops on a dime compared to his cobra ;p

Meh, we haven't compared. If I had stainless lines and nice pads though it would be pheasible haha

I did the Cobra 13" upgrade along with SS lines on my 2002 GT about a year ago. I'll never go back. I am running parts store ceramic pads and replacement rotors, and the car stops on a dime. A hard stop will plant my chin spoiler in the road HARD. The feel is great with the SS lines, and I have never had brake fade on my backroad corner carving runs. Eventually I'll be upgrading to slotted rotors and HPS pads for even better stopping power and less chance of fade.

This is good stuff. Hopefully will be upgrading in the next few weeks.. Just have to make sure to pass emissions first!!

The SVE Has stainless line, Powerslot 13" rotors and performance pads. It was a night and day difference from my gt brakes. I still need to do rotors, lines and pads in the rear to match the front. The SVE kit is the best deal I could find.
