Anyone ever use high temp lock-tight or something to keep bolts from coming loose? I have shorties this is the second time my ARP bolts come loose so then leaks come up. Can anyone give me some tips to stop this from happening. Does this even work or should I get those Stage 8 Locking bolts?

Thanks

I use BBK shorty headers, and the bolts they supply have never come loose, but i seem to be on my own.

I just buy the stage 8 header bolts. They are pricey and a little bit of a bitch to get on but once they are on, you'll never have to tighten or replace a header gasket again.

I bought my stage 8 bolts from summit... like $45, wich kinda sucks cause there just bolts, but I havnt had a problem yet... you can try the lock tite, it could work, but the stage 8s definintly work!

I just check mine one week after installing them. if any have loosened, I just sock em down and never have any issues.
I havent checked mine in about a month or so... then just checked them today when i saw this thread... they are all still tight

from experience, i would never use lock tight on any bolt that goes to the block itself. if one snaps while your loosening it, new motor will be needed. Had that happen to a friend on his fox

Stage 8 bolts are a huge pain in the ass, and I hate them. I threw mine away.

Now I use regular ARP header bolts (with the nice small 5/16" head) and re-tighten them a few times. No problems.

go to schucks or whatever is equivalent and just get their header locking bolts. They have small holes drilled in the head that you run some guitar string type through it then twist them down. Bolts never come loose. and they are like 15 bucks for both sides.

They are a pain in the ass, but they work.

I have used ARP header bolts and a 3/8" lock washer. That works too..

I am using a set of Stage 8 bolts because I had a 1" set left over from my 92 LX and figured I might as well use them.
