Hey guys, I'm new here. My car is just finishing getting a full PI headswap with LT's, X-pipe, and JLT CAI. Can I drive it around without a tune, or do I have to get the tune right away??? Since I noticed a few of you had the swap, I was hoping you could clear this up for me. Thanks

a tune will make things run smooth and at full potential, but its not nessesary with those mods.

Yep, make sure you run premium, and give it a few days to "learn" what's new. A PI swap is within the aprameter's of the stock ECU to learn. A tune will help with driveability and probably pull 10 or 15 more horsepower from it though.

a good tune is ALWAYS a good idea even if you just have a couple bolt ons. (if you want full potential). but like everyone just said you'll be fine without it. i'm running a 01 P.I. motor with my 98 ecu and it's fine. still really needs a tune but it runs great.

Ok that's great, thanks a lot guys. I was worried that I had to baby the car and not get to "hear" it on the highway or drive back home, lol.

Woohoo, she's done O0, I'll let you guys know how she feels when i bring her back. My mechanic already told me that it's really loud, and joked that I'm going to get tickets. I can't wait to hear it.

yeah it'll be fine. it's gonna seem like you're driving a totally different car.

P.I.- life after 4k

HAHA, I put stage 2 PI heads on and the works, ie: lt, o/r X-pipe , etc...... I have run about 3k mile on it with no tune and it is fine. I agree with the above comment Above 4000 rpm = stupid little grin >:D enjoy it and let us know how you like it

Well the car sure does feel like a different car alright. It sounds great, but the idle dips about 3 times when I come to a complete stop, then evens out. I'm gonna get it tuned soon. Other than all the rattling things in the car that need to be tightened now, :noes: It's doing great :D

2v's create torque faster than 4v's
yeah, but that doesnt mean alot when its limited to such a small amount of peak torque.

true but what accelerates your car off the line?

are you arguing that a 2v is better than a 4v?....

uh even if the 2v made a lot more torque and could take off better...how long would it be untill the 4v blew by the 2v? probably like 200 feet.

no i'm not saying the 2v is better than the 4v. not at all. trust me i'd much rather have a 4v!!
