so, someone backed their truck into the stang last sunday....the dude was pretty cool about it and is willing to pay for it cash or insurance. i'm easy and can go with cash. my question is this...how easy is that hood to fix or should i get a new one? he hit it right on the nose where it starts to duck down and split it about 12'14". its not bad at a glance, but its definetly noticable to me. should i just get a new hood and respray or can glass work be done to fix? i'm pretty mechanically inclined but dont do much glass work other then some surfboard ding repair here and there... he offered me 200 bucks and i said i'd get back to him as an OEM replacement hood is that much on Egay and about another 50 bucks to respray.
thanks in advance! :eek:ccasion14:

only 50 bucks to respray? To paint my hood was like $300 lol. $200 is way too little, i'm thinking more like 5-600.

last i heard (key word is "heard") there was a recall on 1994/1995 because in minor front end colisions the two piece hood can seperate if the car is driven afterwards....

I'd suggest getting some hood pins if you keep the same hood, just for safety's sake.

yea, 50 bucks...a buddy of mine sprays for a living. Friend deal ;)

i'll def look into that hood recall though! that's interesting to know and certainly a good reason to invest in hood pins. lol

i'll prob end up taking it to a body shop to get a quote for repair and go off that. i'm just trying to be easy on the guy as he was kind enough to leave a phone number when i wasnt even there...he easily could have taken off and hosed me! :)

I would definitely get enough money to buy a new hood plus paint. Would be a good opportunity to upgrade hoods if you wanted to do so.

I hope you would notice a 12 foot, 14 inch crack in your hood.
