quick transmission question (t5)

im replacing the clutch and flywheel today and am going to pull the gear box an have a quick look at it...what weight oil and how much is recommended? i have a heavy right foot...lol

its recommended NOT to use Mercon V... but rather just regular Mercon. the Multi vehicle ATF or a dexron/mercon atf is preferable.

My bad. Since I have an auto and the recommended fluid now is Mercon V, I made an assumption in applying that change to the T-5. Damn, I hate it when I give bad advice.

I was always told to do royal purple synchromax and a t5 in a 94-95 only takes 2.8 quarts.

You ain't lying....2 18" extensions, universal, and a pair of THICK gloves to protect the knuckles.

You were told wrong. The expensive stuff is no better than the cheapest Pep Boys stuff in my experience. A junk box is a junk box, and a good box is a good box, no sense in hiding it behind $8/qt. fluid. Same goes with the motor - regular fluid changes, correct aftermarket parts, and correct owner/maintenance are the key.

You've only heard good things from them because they honestly want to believe they are gaining something by wasting their money. I've only heard good things from 9 and 10 second guys I drag race with about Pep Boys bargain brand "junk."
