I am going to repaint my sight shield due to some chips and scratches, not sure if I should stay with the same color it is now (black with copper flake) or paint it the same steel silver as the expansion tank. Opinions?

I am working hard to get the body color out from under my hood, have grown to hate all of it matching

Anchor room custom made it for me, just gave him the size, colors and info I wanted on there

Here is another thought, I could go with this grey that I have on the oil cap and radiator cap, it;s not as metallic as the paint on there now but at least this way it will be a different color then the tank

I personally dont like plastic pieces being painted that silver/steel color. To me it looks like someone wants the plastic to look like metal and it just looks cheap. If I was going to paint it, it'd be a darker color. I like the color of that cap you posted. I think that'd give it that different look without making it stick out like a sore thumb.

Why not get a satin aluminum panel from Scott Drake or whatever? Then paint it the same as your p/s tank and catch can. Would color match much better than the plastic stock piece. Pricey but would make a huge difference IMO...

My current shield covers the headlights as well so it is the full length, all the aluminum ones I see do not include those

Wouldnt be too hard to make your own flaps and put some hinges underneath so they are hidden to where you would just see bolts or rivets holding the hinge to the pieces.

But if I want to be fabricating why wouldn't I just make the entire piece myself :)

Right now I think the dark grey from the cap is my 1st choice (namely because I have some of that still while I don't have anymore of the copper flake)

Plan to repaint my strut covers the same color as well

Well the flaps would be A LOT easier to make being there wouldnt be any major bends. Or go ahead and bend up your own cover. Nothing better than making your own piece and it turning out awesome.
