and it has some issues. Spinning off the line like a washing machine :angry7: and its killing me. Got a 12.1 @ 114 with a ( drum roll ) 1.78 60ft time :thefinger: I have some funky stuff going on, I have 2 race tunes and the first one is weaker than the second. The weak one gave me 106 trap time and the stronger tune gave me 114 trap....but almost NO drop in et :dontknow: Im not sure whats going on with that, I know the traction issue is there but I swear I thought I would have a minimal drop in et since I picked up 8 freaking mph in the qrarter. Also have some issues to work out in my tune regarding the trans settings and my idle. 1/8 mile time was decent at 7.6s @ 91mph

Now im selling these sucky Lakewood traction bars and getting some REAL traction bars / new slicks and fixing the tune issues and going at it again looking for that 11 second pass. My trap speed shows its there, its just a matter of planting the power and getting it to stick. I have a vid and some pics that will be up tomorrow. My camera man screwed up a bit due to the new camera so bare with the less than great vid. :tongue3:

So I think I was the closest guess! Damn I'm good. What do I win?

Post the slips.

I think you should stop spending money and start spending time at the track.

Paul.

Time at the track is time well spent when it comes to learning about your truck. I agree with Paul there.

hey man, were you at CPD? in the white lightning with the SN95forums decal in the back glass?

I was there too, I had the white 98 gt that you guys parked beside. not to hijack, but man that is a nice truck you got. wanted to come over and say whats up but you guys were there, then changing tires, then in the staging lanes, didnt want to interrupt your flow.

either way, if I see you again down at CPD ill stop by and say whats up :)

Your speed is there but i don't understand why you are not there in the 11's. Are you wheel hopping any or just spinning? I mean you should be running a good mid 11 pass with that mph, plus your 60ft is decent i don't really understand why you are not hitting 11's... i mean i know guys hitting 1.9 60ft and still pulling 10's in the 1/4 (at like 148 mph lol)

EDIT: Actually that is about right. After looking into it more, 110 mph should be around a 12.0-12.4 depending on traction 114 should be a high 11 pass though

Going to the track more is not the issue here guys, I should have had the 11 last night but a few hitches kept it from me. Im NOT saying that more time at the track wont be a smart thing but its NOT what kept me from getting the 11. I have talked to my tuner today as well as a dozen of fellow Lightning owners and the consensus is ALL the same, I had a mid to upper 11 last night but spinning is what kept it from me. I had wheel hop and thats from the slapper bars, after talking to some other guys I KNOW this now........so they are history. Im at the point where they are actually working against me now possibly and for sure are past the power level ( hp and tq ) that the effectiveness of the short slappers are no longer doing there job. This is where a set of 54 or 58 inch LONG bars come into duty. Thats the way im going now, along with some tune tweeks and a new set of slicks this should be the remedy for my case. Hopefully we can get back out there before hot weather sets in.

and most of the time our club was hangin around together watching our guys run. dunno if you noticed the banner in my window, or any of the others.

wotmustangs.com we are mostly out of jacksonville / wilmington area. Sponsered by National Speed in Wilmington. not to 'sell' the club or anything, but we ahd alot of guys putting down there fastest passes that night. so it was busy for us trying to keep up with each other.

to be honest I didnt notice, when I go and run my stuff I dont really see anything but mine. If I go and dont have my ride then I take note of everything there. I do remember seeing a car or two in the staging lanes with National Speed stickers on them though.

with a 7.6 in the 1/8th mile, the 1/8th mile is there. You're right the 60ft COULD be better but its not awful. Sounds like you're losing something on the top end....probably the brick like aerodynamics of the truck. I ran 7.70's in 1/8th with mine and was still able to pick up the top end charge and hit 11.89 on my best with motor alone.

after talking with my tuner we have got it down to a slight loss off the 60 ft time but also my slicks spinning on the rim. Its probally going to be after summer but im going to go with the long bars/ new shocks/ new slicks ( with screws ) and a revised tune. With these changes 11's should be there as long as it hooks up this time. My 114 trap is plenty for the 11 second et, most L's get in the 11s with a 110 trap.

Tires spinning on the rims? Its coastal plains....Before you go slamming screws into a new set of tires, chalk mark them across the rim and tire. Make a pass. If the chalk marks don't line up, after the pass then you're slipping. I'd VERIFY before I act based off of a speculation...thats me though. How much pressure are you running in the tires? Its Coastal Plains, that place hasn't been exactly known for hooking.

Heh, funny thing is the FIRST time we went last month I DID mark them and they were spinning because the mark was about 2 inches off. I told my guy about it and he told me I was crazy that my truck didnt make enough power to spin the slick on the rim. And sure enough now after the second time the mark is almost 6 inches off the line......them buggers are spinning fo sho. Tire pressure is about 12-13psi
