Rare Ford Vin Error Gt Cobra

I recently purchased a 1994 mustang gt convertible. I called Ford to get a Vin breakdown on the vehicle build . The build came back as a gt convertible cobra. My Vin on the car does not show it to be a cobra car. I have recently ordered some parts from ford and the standard gt components do not work but the cobra do. I called the ford registry and the Vin does not show as being a cobra. Any help would be great if this is error cobra with incorrect Vin not to bad of a find for $3800

my 93 comes up as a 93 ford mustang gt cobra as well

its not and your car is probley not either what on your car would not work being a gt and would as a cobra?? almost everything is interchangable...if you open the hood does it say cobra on the motor?

nope but today a purchased a pick up for my dist and the standard gt would not work but the cobra did and that was from ford dealer ???? after they ran the vin for the part

i know the canadian fox body mustangs VIN's come up as Mustang GT Cobra or something... idk if this went further than the foxbody era though....

the 8th digit of the VIN is D for the Cobra engine. Most parts should be interchangeable between GT and Cobra, what were you trying to fit?

its what Trey said. Canadian Gts were called Gt Cobras.

mine is us made...i got all the specs on everything for my 93 it was made 3 days before my b-day :hammer:

and im heading to work in about 10 mins and im pretty sure the pick-ups are the same for the cobra and the gt...so i really dont understand how your having all this trouble maybe ford is dinking you around soaking you for more money because its "cobra" parts...

well they still made the mustangs in the US but they exported them to Canada and instead of just Mustang GT's, the titles and VIN's (not one hundred percent on the VIN part) said that they were Mustang GT Cobra's..

i dont know all if my guages are u.s. not kph or anything and all of the writing is english...i really doubt the car was made here sent to canada and came back here lol but i guess you never know :dunno:

that happens to tons of cars. my dads truck was made here sent to canada and then sent back here from the dealership cause they couldn't sell it.

On a 1994 everything from a GT will fit a Cobra. No idea what the hell you were trying to fit but it should fit with 0 issues. The only real difference with the motor(besides the heads/intake obviously) is the stupid cobra oil cooler which is easy to delete and if your's isn't a real cobra you don't have it anyway.

Hmm that is strange, ive read about this on 93's but not our cars. whats your letter code? D is cobra and i think S is for the GT

The 8th digit will be a D on the Cobra. But if he had a real cobra he'd know it. There are way too many giveaways. Brakes, rear wing, the airbag, brake booster, etc...
