I know I know yet another wheel thread. Ontop of other things that have been going on I was at my buddy Brian's today for a minute and he pulled out his 95 R's from under his car. Don't worry hes not 4x4'n lol its up on jackstands. They're 17x9 and 17x10.5 and they're legit R's with the 2.25" centercaps. He said he'll sell em to me tires and all, which are Nexen N7000's which arent the best but they are almost brand new, for $300. He also doesn't care when I get him the money cuz he's that kinda guy.

Now for the reason's why he want's to sell them to me so cheap. He had them plastidipped awhile back then took it off, so the chrome is all scuffed from sanding I think. I don't know if that's exactly why but they could definitely use refinishing. Issue 2 is the inside of the wheel. With age, it's like any other chrome rim (my Camaro's did the same thing) the inside is peeling/chipping off or whatever you wanna call it. That I could just scrape off I'm sure and not have to deal with it again. And finally the center caps have circular holes in them. I didn't ask him why, don't really care why, but they are there. Maybe the sticker logo came off? Not sure I'll find out tho.

So what do you guys think? I could refinish them, or I could paint them black. Question is, would it be a sin to paint real R's black lol? I like the chrome and all, but chrome just isn't my thing. And having a silver car with solid chrome rims... It's just too much lol. What do you guys think? Should I get them? Won't be till January or February I'm sure since I have no money to spare right now, but I'd like to reserve them as mine should I want them.

Any sweet pix you guys can find of either color, or even just yay or nay's would help!

Buy em. Refinish them to your liking and have a badass set of wheels.

I wouldn't consider it a sin. Most people couldn't even tell you they were real. And if they are already not in the best of shape I'd go ahead and do it. Imo you're saving their life.

Also, I too am like you. Chrome is not for me. Although I'm a big BIG fan of satin silver on a lot of rims. Like the R's, 03 cobra's, etc.

well at the very least the two 17x10.5s aren't real Rs, chances are the others probably aren't either. Do they have the Ford stamping and part # on the back?

If you like them then go for it new tires alone are probably worth the money. As onyx said the chances of them being legit are slim.

I would buy them without worry of wrecking real r wheels.
They are not real r wheels. Chrome and size both say they
are knock offs.

Wow ok so he doesn't know what he bought either lol.. The center caps from my knock off bullit's do not fit in these tho, they're too big. I'll check for Ford part numbers or stamping in them next time I look at them

Ok so even if they aren't real, would they still be worth it? Then I gotta track down center caps that fit, and those things aren't exactly cheap

I have real r wheels and would still buy those at that price. They look real enough and have the wider rear with tires. Worth the price.

I dont see any pictures, but if there cobra R's.. like the ones i have.. i would run. Hate them.

And plasti dip requires no sanding for wheels. If the finish is screwed its from cleaning it with a towel while the wheel is still dirty. (applying chrome polish to a dirty wheel and wiping it off once it dries)

It's funny that back in the day, EVERYONE had 95 Cobra R's. They were a dime a dozen and people were totally over them.

Now they're hard to find (especially ones with the R58 back space) and people think they're cool.

Paul.

Twista I wanna say yes... Minus the, is it plastidip? I'll text him now and try to get some pix by tomorrow at some point.

And MC even for $300 you wouldn't buy them? Just out of curiosity, how come?

Those do look weird.. almost like there 16 inch wheels. ( the star looks smaller than most 17 inch R's i seen)

Also the bubble around the center cap is odd.. Dunno. I would pass on those above......

here are mine in chrome trim:
