I have heard a rumor that the Fox body rear fits as a direct bolt in rear in the early 1965-66 Mustangs. Can anybody confirm this???

Thanks. That is what I was looking for. I thought all fox bodies came with coil springs not leaf springs. So it is not a direct bolt in job. Not only that but it would need to be cut down anyway. It looks more and more that I am going to be useing my Mach rear after all.

the 79-98 rear end housing is the size and everything, the 94-98 has slightly longer axles. the 99-04 has a bigger housing and axle compared to the 79-98

Have you considered selling the Mach rearend and putting a 9" under there? From what it sounds like, a 9" will
bolt right in, and they are pretty strong..

I would much rather use a 9 inch. 2 problems, 1) There are none in the size I need. The only 9 inch rear that will fit the 1965-66 Mustang, is a rear out of a 1965-66 Mustang, and the only Mustangs that came with a 9 inch rear in those years are the Hi-Po 289 cars. So there were maybe 15,000 ever made. 2) It will cost $2000-$2100 to have one custom built.

If I go the custom build route I will use the rear out of the Mach. I have a quote for $1400-$1600 to have narrowed, new axles, and gears of my choice.

Hmm.. I guess i didn't realize that there were so many different lengths of 9" Ford rearends. I guess if you'll save close to
a grand, then the Mach rearend may be the way to go..

hahahahah that rear chassis looks like it needs a Chris 9" dropped in... i dont think a Ford 9" can handle that power!
