Hey, not sure if this should be here or under 5.0 but I was wondering what you guys think the best mod is for the money. Each will cost me about the same amount to have done and my car could definately use the tune with the cam that it has right now...
here are the mods:

newly rebuilt block, 30 over with forged pistons
cobra intake
holley systemax heads and cam
75mm throttle body
home made intake
afpr set to 42psi
13* of timing
and other bolt ons...

what would you guys suggest, go for gears or the tune? I'll have both done by next summer anyways, but I don't know what to do for right now...

with your mods i say get the tune first so you get the most out of it and don't screw something up. if it were stock i'd say gears

how much is the install + the gears going to cost?

$300 for a tune is a really good price btw. Why do you think the computer/chip is going?

install and gears will only be 75 for gears and install kit and another 150-200 for install.

I'm getting all sorts of computer codes right now, so I am thinking it may have something to do with the chip: code 998 hard fault and 511? prom failure

I would have went with the tune.... I got my car tuned just to see where its at and i was running extremely lean.. You know what they say, lean is mean but not good for the motor...... Once i saw how lean it was running I was extremely glad I got the tune.....

But with your mods.. i'd say you would have put down 290hp and 305 tq

yah, i still am going to go to one of the dyno days and just get some a/f readings to make sure. I am going to college in the fall though and can't afford to spend a ton on my car this year.

DO NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT go to a dyno day, if you dont have a tune and you go, that thing goes hard lean you will be super mad, dont waste your money on thoes gears... protect your investment and get a god tune, get an sct3 x-cal get it tuned (gonna be around 500 with programmer) and go from there.
