hmmm. spare tire, jack, and trunk carpet is probably worth another 15-20lbs. I wonder How much the A/C would be worth. It would be nice to shave some uneeded weight off of the car.

from what i;ve seen it REALLY makes a difference in 1/4 mile times

i made my own, cost me less than $50 total including buying a jigsaw($10) and a staple gun ($10). materials alone it was about $25. It was very easy. and I made my bottom into two different sections and put it on hinges so i can open up the sides and hide things under them...and my rear seat delete weighs at the most 5 pounds.

id like to do a rear seat delete in my cobra but i use it to much for passengers. (i.e. when my girlfriend rides along with me and i have a buddy, she usually likes to sit in the back so i can talk to my friends.)

with my old GT I removed the back seat and put in some corobu (however the hell you spell it) racing seats in the car, and it made a HUGE difference. Car was definitely quicker, except I started having traction issues. If I would race someone from a first gear roll, the car would go sideways, then spin bad again when shifting into 2nd. and this was in my stock 94...

the rear seat is pretty damn heavy...its at LEAST 40+lbs...every bit of weight helps out. also, installing a tubular k-member and a arms, manual rack, and getting rid of the AC gets rid of 90-100+lbs...............another thing to think about :D

I want to get one just as soon as I can afford to! I am not doing it to save weight or anything, I just want just me and maybe 1 other in my car! I eventually want to add 2 10's though! On Ebay there is one that will come in my saddle color! Some day I'll have it.

your going to regret having no rear seat when a car-load-of-girls opportunity arrises. I've had so many piled back there that my car was bottoming out on the driveshaft.

i thought about a rear seat delete, and THAT is the only reason i said no

I have a 3yr old son and a long term girlfreind soon to be fiance, i dont think i will ever have a car full of girls again. And my 3 yr old doesnt go in the mustang, i dont feal safe with him back there so i leave his car seat in my truck.

nobody ever sits my rear seats... but i sit back there and hide when i smoke weed in Busy locations :boink:

LOL back in my highschool days i used to do that in my jeep ALL the time, but after my priorities changed i totally cleaned up.

Yup... I'm with you. I've got an 11 month old son, and i don't like putting him in the Stang, thats what the Honda's for. I want to make an all aluminum rear seat delete. Have a buddy weld in some hinges on the underside so i can put my 2 10# Nitrous bottles back there.

My car felt like it would get up and go when I got on it a lot better without the rear seat and subwoofer box.

it definately made a differance but it also made it impossible to get traction. I was ice skating up the road till 70 mph in my npi gt
