I just got a rear swaybar to put on my 98 v6 which did not come with one. Its a stock unit and it seems to be very light and hollow. Is this normal? I know the front bar is like crazy heavy and solid compared to this one. Did I get a v6 bar and not a gt bar? Its all painted and ready to go on. Did I get the wrong one? Does it make much difference?

Hollow bars are perfectly normal and still plenty strong. I'm pretty sure the Cobra bars are hollow, I may be wrong though.

Thanks. Good to know. It just seemed kinda flimsy compared to the front bar.

Pretty sure v6's didn't have rear sway bars. Tubes are stronger than shafts, so I'm sure they're both hollow, the front most likely has a thicker side wall.....

Actually I think some of them are solid. Not sure why they would do that... probably easier/cheaper to manufacture.

Yeah, ford did away with them for v6's in 98. Im not sure what year they started putting them back on v6's. Luckily all the holes are still there to install one from a v8 car or earlier v6. Looks like a super easy install.

Fox bars are solid, SN bars are hollow. Better for weight savings for sure.
