Removing heavy overspray

Well its more of clumsy drips than over spray. The Cobra I picked up has touch up paint globs all over it and I've managed to clean those up but when the previous owner did a spot on the 1/4 panel he dripped it all over the rear wheel.
I tried razor blading it off but got nervous about nicking the finish on the wheel. I tried to polish it off, but its on there pretty good. Ultra fine scotch brite got some of it off but still no lucky. Also tried mineral spirits and WD-40. Couldn't bring myself to use lacquer thinner or acetone yet.

My main concern is screwing up the finish of the wheel, its a painted face w/ a machined and clear coated lip. The drips are all over the wheel in pea size spots.

I'm guessing it's dry? if so drips will be difficult to remove.
are your wheels painted/clear coated?
also depends on what type of paint was used and how clean your wheels were at the time.
carefull with the razor blade, it's easy to cut into the clear when doing that.

have you tried paint thiner, immediately followed by wiping the area with a wet rag/soapy water?

I haven't tried true paint thinner yet, that will be my next try tonight.

I'm pretty good w/ a razor blade but the contour of the wheel made it very hard to use. The drips are dry and I'm asuming its regular touch up paint. The wheels are painted and cleared as best I can tell the painted area is also clear coated which is helping me a little.

How big are the drips? Maybe a good claybar treatment will help?

big drips, probably 1/8" to 1/4" in width w/ some run to them. Ray Charles must of done this. I tried my blue clay bar on them w/o any luck. I used to have some red which was harsher but couldn't find it. I hope I don't end up having to paint these suckers because it'll be a bitch to do w/ the bolts they have in them.

The only way to really fix drips is to sand them down and buff out the scratches.... but this is very hard stuff to do.

post up a pic of it so we can get the general idea of how bad it is. when i picked up my wheels there was black overspray all over one wheel. i took some turtle wax polishing compund(paste) and worked it off with a paper towels and finished off with microfiber. my wheels were painted wheels so it may be different with polished metal wheels. don't know what you have.
