rotate the pieces as you insert them to release the spring that holds them.

Oh and curse like a mofo. There is a set limit of cuss words you will need to say before it releases. Saying them louder and faster helps, unless your neighbors are close and nosey....

GOT EM OFF!! Who-hoo!!!

3/8” on the bigger line; 5/16 smaller. Clamp it on, slide it on until it makes contact with the line. Shove the line in towards the tool then pull/slide the line off.
I finally found a YouTube video that showed an up close view and good, clear instructions

yea take a look inside before you just swap it out for sure. There will probably be some crap on the bottom after all these years but I am fairly sure I have seen stuff to clean it out with.
Like what?? I have the tank stripped down and I think I’m going to keep the original tank

And of course I snapped the filter (?) thingy off the bottom of the doohickie so I’ll need to replace that. Why would it go smoothly? I don’t have that kind of luck! LOLimage.jpg

That orange flap is just something that goes on the end of the return line. I think it’s to cut down turbulence on the returning fuel.

The strainer/sock on the bottom is easy to replace.

Also, I don’t think that is the stock pump. They didn’t come with hose clamps like that on stock pumps. They typically have a band style clamp.

Agreed they don’t usually have those style clamps but it’s worth changing again if you got the parts , I remember you mentioned you were having lean symptoms

Almost beer-thirty, so that’s it for today! Good day: new shoes for the truck; spent rest of day on the fuel tank. :)

Don’t know if you can see the part # due to glare and shallow stamping but it reads: GSS 307 then below that:
34910-1 MADE IN USA

Quick Google search says it IS a stock replacement, which is the 255lph…
But , the Walbro pumps are usually good for 10-20 years. My car being 29-30 yrs old and me not knowing if/when this pump was put in, I’m inclined to pop the new one in (also a 255lph)

Stock isn’t a 255. I think maybe a 190 or lower. But I agree, might as well while you are in there. I’d go ahead and contact Tuning Innovations and order their replacement fuel lines also. And a new vent

Definitely get a new sock filter as well as the post-pump filter. Your injectors will thank you.

It's normal for these things to go pop after all the years. Just happens.

See if you can dispose (properly) of the residuals inside the tank, it'll make the filters last longer.

Did your fuel filter tube not bust of the large tank grommet? If so, you're lucky.

Like you said you’re already in there I’d change the pump and sock out for sure.

I have a new sock and the new tank came with those metal rings that you have to tap open with a hammer and flat screwdriver. All new grommets, too and the rubber pads that stick onto the top of the tank, sending unit, and the thing that tells you the fuel level in the gas tank. I do need to get a small tube of dielectric grease for the couplings

One thing I’ll say for sure when you do things you don’t half ass it . For how clean and well looked after your car is I thought it would have sold when you had it listed .

Yeah, me too. I thought it would have sold as well, especially being a rust-free CA car and all the upgrades.

I’m a firm believer in both preventative maintenance and do it once/do it right.

The black clip is for the stock filter. It's a "lock" after it gets put in the line. I think the same goes for the beige plastic piece. It may be the other lock type, not sure. The plastic accordian tube I believe is if you need to replace the vent tube on the fill port pipe-to-tank.
