Just go wetsand them MustangChris ! I did today! I did 800, 100 and then 2000 I think. Then polished them with maguires. Look much better! I just have to do some hand polish and spray them with clear coat!

I "restored" the ones on my old foxbody. I bought new ones for the sn95. They were cheap enough and look better. LOL!

Crest toothpaste did nothing for me. Must be the wrong brand lol

The actual ingredients of the toothpaste mean nothing. The only reason why some toothpastes actually work is because of the texture. They can essentially sand off the top layers of the headlight. Arm and Hammer or some of the actual pastes are the ones that work. Crest is more of a gel, and therefore has no abrasive properties to it.

But that being said, real plastic polish is 10x better than toothpaste.

Seems to work a bit still pretty hazy but can't beat the price.

did you actually work it in, or just rub it over it? Actually use a little elbow grease and you can get off more then you think but otherwise to restore plastic all you need is a high speed rotary buffer ran down it and most will look good as new.

SOmetimes polishing them is not nearly enough. I have done tons of lights.

I've done a lot more that I didn't take pictures of. Even fund raised for a cancer project doing headlights. Seen here:

When I first started, I would wet sand and clear, but I didn't like that method too much, so I switched to wet sanding and bringing the grit up to 1500 or 2000. Then I would polish them. Found brasso to be super awesome for them at that level. Then finish off with a few coats of wax.

Now, I wet sand as far as I need to, some lights are soooo bad you have to go all the way down with 400, I've had some be 320, but I refuse to go lower (unless i'm shaving off the tits like on snives) then just work your way up. Once I'm at about 1500 I'll hit them with the buffer, and usually use some m105 and m205 then a few coats of wax.

Lights stay looking nice if you polish them once in a while.

I think someone needs to do a write up! ... with lots of sexy time pics!
