rev limiter?

i was driving the other day and i was in 3rd gear trying to speed up comin on to the freeway an all of a sudden i hit 2500rpm and it acted like when you hit rev limiter it would go over 2500rpm i took it to fourth and had no prob in fourth or 5th the when i got off and hit a light i took it from first to 2500 and no prob and 2nd same no prob then 3rd and no prob... its happen like 5 maybe 6 times since the 20th of jan does anyone know what that means?

Yes it does but not all the time maybe once like every few weeks or so does maybe it not being warmed up for hella long have any thing to do with it cuz ill warm it up for 5 min and then from were im at till freeway takes like 5-7 MIN????? any ideas?
