hey yall, i got a 94 convertable and all the roll bar kits ive seen say they only fit the hardtop cars, whats the difference between the coupes and converts that the roll bar wont fit, i can understand the rear strut bars being different for a coupe and convert, but will the main hoop and door bars fit and if so would it just be able to do some cutting and welding of the rear strut bars to fit into the convertable

thanks but im not looking to spend $450 for a direct fit one, im just looking for one of the cheap priced kits that has the main hoop that will fit and all the bars that need to be cut and welded, what im wanting is the kit thats at summit racing for $165 that says its for the coupes, i just dont know if that main hoop will fit in the convertables, i dont know of any reason why it wouldnt fit both coupes and converts cause the interiors the same, but i just want to make sure before i buy it, i just dont want to spend big money on a direct fit one cause my fathers friend will do all the cutting and welding and installing it for free

Im pretty sure the main hoop would fit no problem, I think its the rear bars that make it different. On my vert the mounting points were right behind the back seat. In my buddies coupe there was no where to mount close to where the vert would. Assuming the picture is right, you'd just have to cut the rear bars it looks like they'll get welded or bolted straight to the trunk floor everything else looks the same

if the roof line is shorter for the converts than i can just have the main hoop cut down to fit, and if the rear bars need to be cut and welded differently than that would be fine, i think im just going to buy the kit and test fit the main hoop to see if it fits

i bought the roll cage kit from jegs, since nothing is premade except the main hoop all the bars needed trimmed but the main hoop fit perfect, the door bars fit even the rears, just had to trim everything to fit, it didnt take very long to weld and cut everything, you shouldnt have any problems.
