I was driving down the road and i glanced at the temp gauge and it was dead center of M normaly it runs center of R and just covers the first leg in M before fan kicks on. I turned down the music and rolled the window down and the fan was on, but even then it would not drop so i turned on the heater and it dropped after about 5 seconds. Drove another mile or two with it doin its normal cycle and no problems. Any ideas? weird moment? water pump(no squel that i can hear)? thermostat? HELP its too hot to overheat!

thats not overheating. mine sits in the same spot when its 95+ outside and i run the a/c, i've verified the actual temperature is only 210? at that point, which is perfectly fine.

this is the reason ford did the radiator/fan upgrade, i'm guessing yours doesnt have it, neither does mine. nothing will help except a more efficient radiator. my car has a 180? thermostat, and low speed fan turns on at 180? high speed fan turns on at 200?, but mine only gets that hot when cruising down the interstate, so the radiator is not capable of removing enough heat at the higher rpms. i dont know if its lack of airflow, or the actual size of the radiator, but either way, its the problem.

well, its really not a problem at that temperature, but you could try an aluninium radiator.

I concur with lee...just try gettin a aluminum radiator and cooler thermostat. Wouldnt be a bad idea to get new hoses while your at it. I did all of the above for just over $200 shipped.

you can also turn the fan on by having youMAX A/C on. it will automatically turn your fan on. that way you dont have to have the heat on. just so you know. i learned this the hard way

turning the a/c on works as long as the fan is working properly. also, wont help during cruise since the fan turns off during cruise.

Where did you get it at? I am a 107 thousand and i am thinkin im goin to replace the water pump, hoses, flush the system, and since all this is being done might as well swap the radiator!

i hear alot of bad about the fluidyne radiators, and have seen 2 mushimoto's leaking with hardly any miles on them. i'll personally keep a stock replacement in mine.

you can give either one a shot, i personally wont spend the money on some high dollar aluminum radiator that wont get warrantied when the failure rate is so high.

i dont know if the people with problems are running pre-mixed antifreeze or using antifreeze distilled water, or any mix with tap water, but any amount of tap water will ruin a radiator eventually.

Well if the rate of failure is so high i may just see if they can increase the number of cores, rodded and flushed. Is the stock radiator 4 core or 3? and does anyone know if there is a guage cluster that gets rid of the idiot temp guage and puts one on that has numbers? and yes im that parinoid about the temp!
