On my 98 Gt I found some rust in the area where the decklid bolts to the body on the drivers side. It appears to have been caused by the sealer that FOMOCO used to seal the water channel that runs around the trunk area. On the drivers side there is a part of the sealer that pulled away and formed an place where the water puddled. My plans are to pull the decklid including the hinges in order to clean out all of the rust, Ospho it, and then prime and repaint it. The problem that I am running into is the sealer is pretty tough to remove. I want to minimize the area that needs to be repainted so I am trying to scrape it because it is down in this narrow channel. There is also some rust starting on the underside where the nuts secure the bolts from the hinge. Has anybody else run into this issue? If so, what was your remedy? If not, you might want to take a close look. Thanks, Fred

yeah i've heard of this happening a couple times. there is no really good solution that i know of. that sealer is a real B I O T C H to remove. just keep peeling it away and replace the affected areas.
