I can't speak for the genuine Saleen S281 polyurethane wing but if you are considering a Kaenen fiberglass S281 wing, listen up. First of all this is an awesome fitting wing and the fiberglass quality is great. I've noticed from corral pics and seeing cars at the shows with these wings, one thing is common among them. The ears on the front of the wing are usually sticking up a 1/16" off of the trunk lid leaving a gap which looks kinda yuck. The reason is the wing has 4 alum. threaded inserts in the bottom of it for the bolts to go into. These inserts hold the wing up and make the gap. Here's the answer: Get you some 1/4" studs 1" or so long and put in the inserts. That way you don't have to fight trying to get little bolts started . Put the wing in position to make sure everything lines up. If it's O.K., get a step drill bit and drill the front 2 holes bigger so the insert will drop down thru the metal instead of laying on top of it. This allows the wing to lay flat on the trunk and get rid of that ugly gap. The only thing different is when you put nuts on the studs, you need to put fender washers which are bigger in diameter on the front 2. I left the back 2 holes alone and just used a regular washer and nut. It looks so much nicer with the wing sitting down flush on the trunk. I am taking it to the body shop next week for paint. For the final install I will put several dabs of clear silicone under the center section since the bolts are at the ends it will prevent any vibrations of the wing.
