I'm a month away from my next oil change, figure I'll do Seafoam at the same time. Gonna give it the "full monty-"

- run a can through the gas tank (cleans injectors)
- run a can through the oil (you can only leave it in for 50-100 mi though)
- a can through the PCV hose (Seafoam smoke screen FTW!)

Also decided I'm not using Mobil 1 again, I love the stuff but I don't love using a quart every 1000 miles. My dad's old '97 Marquis (substantially same motor stock for stock) would regularly go 5K without using any. Same with my 4V Mark. Going with Valvoline Hi-Mileage 5W30 and and Lucas Oil Stabilizer (1 quart stabilizer/5 qts oil).

We'll see what happens. Has anyone used the Lucas stuff? Main goal of all this is to slow the motor's oil consumption down some.

^^Gonna have to look for that, but after reading your post I remember reading on bobistheoilguy.com that someone was having big problems with it. Will look for this thread and read...

But what about 5 qts 5W30 and a quart 10W30? I know the oil passages in the heads are a little small but I figure very slightly thicker oil couldn't hurt.

Chemically I'm to understand it's a bit like kerosene. It's a petroleum-based solvent that basically helps clean the carbon and crap out of your motor. Search seafoam on youtube, look at the smoke shows this crap will put out!

Seafoam is Kerosene, lol. Oh, and you are supposed to split the bottle into thirds, not use three bottles at once.

And the high mileage oil will work, BUT it does it by swelling in the seal's, so long term, it will hasten the need for a rebuild.
