Secert to removing the coolant refill cap?

I brought a new one about 2 years ago, but i can never get it off. It says under 16psi pressure and i can't remove it for shit. I never had this problem with the stock one. Im going to buy a stock one today because you have to be hulk holgan to add new coolant.

does anyone have this cap? Its a replacement from autozone i think. does the car have to be warmed up or revving the engine? Damn it!! Its so damn tight. I tried pushing down and turning but i cant get it. :boxing: i think i need a gripping tool to remove this lol
edit: This is the same problem i run into when trying to check my coolant every freaking time. Right now its 25 degrees outside and i cant spend all my time trying to remove it.

The stang has been sitting for 2 days, but it doesnt matter if its 15 minutes or 5 days.

Which cap do u have? Does it have a red clip on top? I have a replacement cap from autozone also and it's very easy to remove. I just have to pull the red clip up, push down a little, and turn and it comes right off.

I'd get the cap with the red clip. It's so much better than stock. It's like 8 or 9 bucks i think.

there has to be a tool to remove this. I swear its tight. im going to drill this SOB off :angry4: My back and palms of my hands are hurting from this thing. How do i remove the pressure? Just undo a hose right?

If it had the red clip u just pull that up to remove pressure. But since it doesn't have the clip, I'd loosen the top radiator hose from on top of the radiator.

i have to be the 1st person in history to loose some skin trying to remove a plastic coolant cap.I just started the car and now its idling. I usually get it off in emergencies easy and thats when the car is hot and lost all the coolant :confused1:

well i ended up breaking it down to some hard yellow plastic thinig. Broke the spring than used a screw driver and hammer to bang it loose. Im going to get a cap like you suggested.

The new one comes off easy so maybe i had a defective one. I put man strength into the old cap and still couldn't remove it.

never seen one with the pressure release, cool. I got a $3 cap from Napa and it works great lol.

my stock one comes right off every time, i just turn it, make sure the car is cold though
