Well my Bassani catted X came in today so went to install it. Got every bolt off in no time took me longer to jack the car up. Then I got to the passenger manifold. I don't know if I rounded it off or if the previous owner did but it's BAD. I tried using those rounded off sockets and those made it worse. It's now pretty much a sphere. I'm lost. I gotta hav this thing on the road for work tomorrow and now don't know what to do lol... Any ideas??

torch it out

Ehh it's right by the starter lol

Weld a nut on it..

Def considered that but I need a new tip for my gun. It's literally the last frickin nut it's ridiculous. I got it cracked but since I don't hav a surface to turn on I'm not sure what all is left with my welder currently down. Thanks for the suggestions tho

you can try to use something like an irwin bolt extractor . They work pretty good I used them on a brake bolt that was rounded the more you turn them
the tighter they get. you can get them at most autopart stores

Well I threw in the towel.. I should be cruising enjoying the new sound of my car right now. Instead because of one tiny stupid little nut I'm having to roll around in my old grand am lol... I used to think the 3400 in it was fast, boy have I come a long way!

The mustang sounds like a frickin monster tho not gonna lie! I had to move it back to it's side of the driveway and it sounded just mean since I have it disconnected after the old X. Found out it's a Pypes offside X says it right in the midde of the X. What a craftsmanship difference between the Pypes and the Bassani. Upon closer examination I found a ton of tiny holes in the X that exhaust had been leaking out of. Not one but about 10. I was going to throw the Pypes X on craigslist but after seeing all those holes I'm just scrapping it. That being said on Monday I'm gonna get it up in the air before I leave for work since I work 10-10 tomorrow and Sunday and my old man is gonna chop it off and he said he'll get the nut off. He's been a millwright for almost 40yrs at the ford plant here in Cleveland so I have faith in him lol. Hopefully Monday I'll post good news!

Btw I did try the hammer and chisel method, but there just simply wasn't enough space. I ended up switching to the air chisel and that slipped off and went through part of the X pipes flange fortunately didn't hit the manifold lol. But since I'm hacking it off anyways maybe that will make it easier to break off!

Also tried that style bolt extractor your talking about if I'm reading that correctly. They almost look like easy outs but for removing nuts/bolts? Those didn't work either, to my complete and total surprise...

So it's off to the cutting wheel and sawzall! Thanks for the input guys!

Also for when this does get done, I hav to have it echecked by next Saturday. Now I know it has cats, but has anybody used the Bassani catted X for emissions reasons? Basically, will it pass?

I passed with my Bassani catted X when my worn out BBK catted H wouldn't. But just barely. I just went back to pulling the Spout connector just prior to the e ck.
