I'm looking for an exhaust for my 97 Cobra and was wondering if anyones ever heard or heard of anyone running SLP Loudmouth II's out the side before the rear tires. On my old 95 Cobra i had side pipes with Dynomax mufflers and I liked it, just curious what the SLP's would sound like coming out the side instead of the rear. I dont feel like spending $500+ on a new SLP catback. So far my exhaust is stock manifolds, BBK O/R H-pipe, and dumped flowmasters

I wanted to do that, but my car is too low. Take it to a local muffler shop and they will make sure you can

I love the look of the factory side exhaust with the skirts but when people just poke it out the side under the body it doesn't look right at all...

i was thinking of shooting through the quarter panel with two tips... might be close to the bottom of the seats but header wrap should fix that lol! im sure it would sound friggin nasty!

I have a x-pipe and slp's. I like the sound, but if it was side exit I would hate it. It would be loud in your ear all the time.

thanks Jav, if i ran tips out the side without the side skirts thats what id hope it looked like...i understand itd be loud and thats exactly what i want, plus itd be unique since ive only seen one or two videos on youtube with this setup, but they were on 5.0 foxs. i guess my only concern now is if the piping would work

What tips you gonna run? the dual tips?

If so, get double walled and staggered.

havent decided yet but im leaning more towards the dual tips than a big oval tip like my old cobra had.....just got back from the exhaust shop and he said he may or may not be able to do it, fearing that the mufflers may be too large around the driveshaft, but he said he may be able to put them on somewhere on my h-pipe, like up where the cats go and then just run the piping out the sides that way

You are also going to want to run an X-pipe and dont use one from BBK. H's make SLP's sound far worse than they should and BBK's "X-pipe" is like an H-pipe with an "X" drawn on the outside. I used to run one with my SLP 1's and it sounded horrible. Switched to an el-cheapo Pypes off-road X and it sounds so nice.

I just ran it along side the driveshaft for now and turned them out in front of the back wheels. Cars not lowered yet but when I do I'm gonna cutt a chunk out of the floorboards and tuck them away to give a little extra clearance. Also since I planned on doing this I only used cheapo flex pipe for now. Ill get pipes bent when I decide to lower it
