I was at the track last weekend and was talking to another guy about our mustangs. Anyway he says he has a ''stock'' cobra and asks if i would like to race him. So, taking his word about the ''stock'' part i said yes. What i didnt know is that he went and told the announcer to announce it as a grudge race. After our burnouts i pulled up and looked at him and knew i probably would lose but didnt think it would be that bad.Lmao when the light turned green i was looking at his rear bumper in no time as he lifted the nose about 1 foot - 1 1/2 feet off the ground with street slicks and i was just bringing up a cloud of smoke spinning lol. It was so embarassing i just thought i would share it. It ended up i ran a 14.6 and he ran an 11.7.

You have to learn your cars before you agree to a race, you live and you learn.

He ran an 11.7 and was lifting the front tires? If that's the case I would think he'd be the one being embarassed.

There's nothing wrong with losing to a faster car. As long as you're out there having fun, that's all that matters. I raced my buddy several times last year and he's got a Termi. Of-course I knew that I was going to lose, but I rub his face in the fact that I always have a better R/T than him and my 60' was better every time too, those two things alone pissed him off to no end and drove him nuts!

well he was not stock, but even if he was there was not much chance of winning VS an 03 Cobra unless he just had no idea on how to drive it.

The guy knew he was gonna beat you easily and if he did indeed have them announce it as a grudge match he is a major tool.

so much wrong with this thread!!!!

i seriously doubt he pulled the tires... if his car did pull the tires you should have known what was going on during the burnout.

high 11 03 cobra is not that impressive, your time is right inline with a close to stock or mild bolt on SN95, so really he shoudl be embarassed either way. that would be like you trying to race a caravan......

why is it not possible for an 03 cobra to pull the front tires when running an 11.7 when the new 5.0 Mustang ran the same time and pulled the front tire?

How do you know this?
Im not doubting that it pulled the front tires up but the distance is probably exaggerated I figure with the right suspension, gear, and drag radials it could pull the front wheels up a little bit.
Im no expert though.

Its okay man no one goes perfect (besides the 78 Dolphins)
72 dolphins?

Went undefeated through the regular season and won the super bowl, something the Patriots couldn't do

The new GT is twisting the chassis and lifting the left front a couple of inches. If the guy in the Cobra lifted the front end like the OP said then he should be embarrased to have run a high 11 second pass, I know I would be.

i'm not saying its impossible, i'm saying if this guy has an 03 cobra lifting the tires he wouldnt be asking a mid to high 14 second car for a race.

i dont know many people that run around asking for races with a car that capable, although the guy might just be that much of a tool.

carrying the wheels 1.5' off the ground and running a high 11 isnt impressive though. i'd like to know what kind of radials he was running though.

Why is that? because he has good weight transfer? 1st gear in the t56's are TERRIBLE for drag racing. Any car (assuming its still the iron block) with an iron block, lifting full front wheel/tire combo is still impressive. That car must 60ft pretty well and leave like a bat outta hell. I cut a 1.62 and was told by 2 people that I lifted he wheels, but never got a picture, and I ran a 12.6......

You're telling me that if you lifted the tires 1-1.5' and ran an 11.7 you would be happy? Let's even throw a bone and say that the OP is talking about lifting the front bumper that high, you're still talking about lifting the tires 6"-1' off the ground. I'm sorry, but if that was the case I would be embarassed to have driven the Cobra.
