and im nervous :crybaby2: The autostore discounted the fire extinguisher they had, so i have to go find one before i start on this.

This is going to be a huge step for me after what happened to my last car because of fuel

just relieve the fuel pressure and you'll be fine.. a little bit of fuel will drip but nothing that will cause problems.

just take your time and you'll be fine

Well brought the fire extinguisher-- might be overkill, but i feel alittle better about doing this now =]

I unplugged the inertia switch in the trunk and ran the car till it died about 1 hour ago.

God i need to buy some oil dry. How do u remove it from the backet. My garage floor is full of gas. I thought a towel was going to be enough to soak it up but it poured out like a damn river

Come on man, shouldn't be that difficult for you. lol. Pretty easy to just pull the clip out while pushing in on the filter towards the line to relieve some of the spring tension. Once the clips out, move on with your life, put it back together and ride.

I wasnt having problems with the clip. I had to remove the entire clamp piece and squeeze that sucker out. There was a napa filter in there.. tight fit.
but
Okay guys. Now i need your help. The install is done, but what about the fuel that spilled on my floor and the under siding of the car. I know the axle and differential cover got wet. Everything is dry now. Do i need to clean the undercarriage with something or am i good?

Thanks

And i like the idea of the spring loaded fuel connectors. Mine are only held on with plastic clips which i guess how the 94-95 are put together.

Just spray it off with some brake clean then let it evaporate if your that worried about it. I've soaked the bottom of greasy cars with brake clean before, and do it constantly at work, or well technicians do. Nothing has ever come of it except for a shiny clean under body :)

one last that. Looking at the plastic clips. Is that part with the fat long end suppose to point towards the filter or away.

I totally forgot to remember which direction. I got them pointing away from the filter

:angel4: Ya i know something so simple seems so complicated. Im just being extra careful with anything that deals with fuel for now on. Lost my 97GT to a engine fire. Not happening again.

Just to be sure also.. the story:

If your fuel filter is clogged or needs replaced. Would it make the fuel pump sound weak?? Just wondering because i noticed after i got off the expressway today my fuel pump was sounding weird. I hear the fuel pump 24-7 so i know when it sounds normal and today it didn't sound the same.

So far the pump sounds good and my idling problem is gone when i restart the car on a warm start.
