SN95 lasted until 2004, which is when the GTO hit US shores. They're not too far apart in terms of dating, but worlds difference in quality.

something to remember is gto's are heavy at around 4500 lbs. The 240's are like 2700 lbs so a 240 with a turbo should beat one. IMO GTO's are too heavy they dont handle great they put a huge motor in them and there not that fast. Kinda reminds me of our cars but at least the fine people at the blue oval started good with a 5.0 and many other parts that were succesful on the fox's.

Gtos only weight 3700lbs my buddy has one and trys to pull the weight thing all the time so he let my other buddy drive it and we went and weighted it. But either way track or street neither are gonna hook up. Since the gto suspension sucks and the 240 won't hook just cause it weights nothing. But it sounds like the gto got what he wanted.

thank you. I was going to say 4500lbs my arse. GTOs do look a little boring IMO but they have nice interiors, I'd much rather drive one than a pos 240.

i am just wondering how u in a v6 were able to keep up enuff to hear what they said right after afterwards... cuz they were prolly stopped before u even reached their shut down point... it could of very well been completely quiet when u got there but i bet they said something to each other... also did the 240 pull over and u two talked for a while about his car for u to know so much about it and talk about his scrap book of parts in it...

.....i aksed the guy with the gto how much he spent on the car plus all the work he had done to it ..he said 15k...i asked the same ? to the guy with the 240....he said 7k.....im thinking to my self.....7k can i can have a 600hp gto beater? idk lol just wanted to share the story..

also how does that make any sense... the dude with the gto said he had 15k in it, how could u think u could have a more powerful gto than he prolly had for 7k total....

sn's started being produced in 94 and share some parts with 04's so I think a pontiac introduced in 04 would be more refined. Obviously it wasnt too much of a success cause it only lasted 3 years and pontiac is no longer manufacturing vehicles.

i have a pontaic 97 grand prix gt and its a decent car just alot of up keep on it so i can understand why they shut pontiac down but i dunno how well the gto is built but id drive it before a 240

The car was created in 2001 as a Holden Monaro in Australia and was brought to America rebadged as the GTO. I still think that the GTO is more refined feeling than even the S197 which we all know came out in 05.

yeah for 15k Id really hope he'd be making more the 600 hp because if it was a 6.0 GTO he's already working with 400 hp full exhaust and ls7 mods could probley make 600 hp and I highly doubt that is any where close to 15 grand

how do u figure 15k was with the purchase price of the car... and i doubt a ls7 would gain 100 hp from just exhaust. and even in the off chance it could, the ls7 has nothing to do with this since they didnt even come in gto's..

I know ls7's dont come in GTO's the ls2 did Im not dumb, I said ls7 MODS cause they share the same block but if you put ls7 heads and intake there's 500 hp and Idk what the power gains a lsx engine gets from exhaust so I was just guessing and I didnt say the car was purchased for 15k? I was talking about doing ls7 mods and full exhaust couldnt add up to 15k I wasnt saying the car was 15k

im not going to argue over this but the ls7 motor has an extra liter in displacement too than the ls2 so just putting the top end from a ls7 isnt gonna net the same power as the actual ls7. with the limited funds i doubt he could do the whole thing including the supercharger if indeed it was supercharged as stated

Im not trying to argue man I just thought they use'd the same blocks because Ive read in the hot rod magazines where they use'd the heads and intakes off of ls6's and ls7's on ls1 blocks sorry. And like I said I read that wrong and thought he had 15 grand in mods not in the car total sorry.

yeah I agree but Id rather have the GTO over a 240 cause I mean the 6.0 ones are pretty cool where I live there's two black twin turbo one's I talked to one of the guys and he said he was pushing 700 at the wheels
