I know nothing at all about these engines so this is probably gonna sound pretty stupid BUT...if you put 4v heads on a 2v motor would that make it a 4v engine? My mechanic is confusing the s*** outta me.

yes and no. you would have 4v heads but the rest of the motor does not share some of the things that the cobra did.

some times even the block was different
believe the pistons were different also but i'm not 100% on that

Yea. I gotta talk to my mechanic tomorrow. He tells me he's putting a 2002 cobra motor in it and all he has to do is put my heads off my 98 cobra onto that motor. But i was told on here, and looked it up myself, that only 100 cobras were made in 2002 nd they all went to australia. Right hand drive and everything. I dunno whats goin on.

I would be taking it to another mechanic personally. Guy doesn't sound like he knows what he would be talking about... All cobras are DOHC, so why would you be switching stuff over. Sounds like the guy has an 02 GT 2V and is wanting to throw your top end and accessories on it.

I am confused also due to the fact that there was not a 2002 cobra in the united states... :dontknow:

So yeah if the mechanic told you that then I'd go somewhere else
