The more and more I read and see here, it seems like having a 5.0 is a serious underdog. :crying: When I was looking for a mustang, I came across my 95 GT. I dont regret it, but it seems like there is major work to do to keep up with cobras of the same era (94-95, especially 96-98). Kinda sad since the dollar value is not too far off between the 2 nowadays. Im beginning to feel like I should have looked a little longer and found myself a cobra instead. Someone convince me why Im just full of crazytalk lol. :dunno:

Don't be bummed, it is human nature to always want more. Trust me, if you bought a '97 Cobra at this point you would just think "I should have just bought an '01" and here we find ourselves once again on a slippery slope.

But there is hope. You just need a blower or if you are a glutton for punishment like me, a big fat hair dryer. Freshen it up, get it running good, go get yourself a chip, a MAF, a Procharger and some 42s. Make power. End of story.

believe me, the 5.0 is much better off than us 4.6's lol. yall actually have an aftermarket. its not hard to take down cobra's when you have a 5.0. your a cam and an intake(and gt40 heads) away from being a damn cobra, lmao

its not hard to up the power in a 5.0, and cheaper to buy a gt than cobra , so you might have some money to hook it up

You're fine. The 5.0 is the simplest/cheapest/easiest way to make power and go fast.

Although hell... 5 years ago I would have never dreamed it would be so cheap to build an LS1. Would anyone here be pissed if I bought a swap K-Member and a 5.3 block and turned my 31k mile SN95 into a tip tied turbo LSX drag car? :knuppel2:

My friend Dave just did that in a 4-cylinder fox notch. Car made 356 rwhp / 333 rwtq NA with a cam, mild cleanup on the heads, and valvesprings. It has an original LS1 intake too so it will make more power once he swaps it.

dude, I did full bolt ons (longtubes, off road x pipe, catback, underdrive pulleys, cai, throttle body, plenum, tune) and i was at 202rwhp. try having 2-3k in mods and barely breaking into the 200rwhp range lol

why not? its an auto non pi...the thing was a slug. I picked up about 20-25rwhp and my tq was 280. that just goes to show that dont always believe that you'll gain what companies claim you will on their parts.

Sometimes I wish I would have bought a cobra but in the end I think this car will satisfy me more. Hopefully one day it will prove that I did not need a cobra after all to go fast. :hammer:

I was never one for buying a modded car already done. thats why i wanted to buy a bone stock car and work it up. this way when people talk and say they picked up 20rwhp from longtubes and 15rwhp from udp i just :rollinglaugh:
