Hasn't done it in awhile. But it happened last night. Got home from class, parked my shit on the sidewalk (like a boss) went in my house. Realized that my neighbors are away till mid December so there driveway is empty. Went back out within a couple of minutes, started it up, put it in drive let it roll out my driveway. Put it in reverse to back into the other driveway, surge surge cut off. started it back up (still in the middle of the street) put it in reverse, stalled.. restarted it and foot braked it into the driveway. this is only when the car is warm. so weird, can't figure it out..

he had some issues with our stalling and cutting out randomly when coming to stops and what not. after some googling and wild guesses, the pcv valve was toast. replaced it an one 5 dollar part later, hasnt stalled since.

I'm starting to think it's something temperature related. When my car wasn't starting earlier this year it's cause one of the coolant sensors was tripping out and causing the car to run in closed loop all the time. Yours sounds like its the opposite since the car is dying at operating temperature.

What have you ruled out since last time?

I'm starting to think so too. Its just weird because ever since I got the car last year, its done it randomly. I drove home last night about 2 miles, so maybe 10 minutes of driving? Then it stalled upon restarting it. I haven't ruled out much honestly because I haven't had the time to mess with anything between school and work. I have ruled out the following as not the issue- plugs, wires, cap & rotor, IAC, and I don't know if its the torque converter or not. I replaced all those parts I listed, so I kinda don't wanna keep throwing parts at the car hoping it solves the problem. I could get a new pcv valve and change mine, I'm sure being almost 20 years old its probably due for a change. Its just mind boggling, only when the car is warm. It could be 1 minute, or 15 minutes later if the car is still warm, restart it and put it in reverse or drive, 9 times out of 10 it will stall.

Just did it again before.. Left class, went home for about 35 mins. Left, drove to the gas station shut it off. Realized the pump was out of order & I went to move it, stalled.. On another note I got 7 gallons of gas for $25!

When (not if) you replace the PCV also replace the mesh screen at the bottom of the hole as well as the grommet. Pull codes. The best tool in the box is a $22 reader. Quit guessing and save $$$s.

My mechanic checked the pip and he said it was fine, after that I put a new cap and rotor on.

Checked it?? How the **** did he do that.... hahaha If its the OEM distributor in there, I'd be willing to bet money its the PIP. Here's the big question....

when it cuts off, does it cut off and just stall and everything is still on? Or does it COMPLETELY die like someone flicked a switch? as in totally DEAD?

Well now that I think about it. He said it could be it, but he wasn't sure and didn't want me just buying parts to throw at it. When it stalls the lights go on the dashboard (like battery, i forgot what else). the lights outside stay on, radio shuts off im pretty sure. But yeah theres pretty much nothing going on when it cuts off, restart it and everything goes on like it was prior to stalling

Possible ect sensor. Fuel filter cheked? Is throttle body clean? These are easy enough to do without spending tons of cash.

That's what my problem was when I couldn't start my car back in January.

Which is what I was referring to in my post above. I'd check it out when you have the chance.

I will friday when I'm off. Not trying to sound like an idiot, but where is it and how do I check it?

I'm not 100% sure about on a 5.0 but I believe it's on the opposite side of this one. I think the brass fitting is where temp sensor for the dash temp gauge goes.
You can test it with a voltmeter to see if it's getting a good reading. Mine was fubared so I just replaced it. A new one was like $15.
