Don't know if anyones noticed, but I haven't been active in the forums to awful much, partly due to my dad having surgery and me having alot of hard thinking to do when it came down to V. After alot of debates between me and my dad, pop's told me to forget a PI motor and 5 speed (which I have sitting around the corner), and to just buy a 99+ gt, 96-98 cobra, or whatever I really want and he'll help me get it. So after alot of deliberation i've come down to just buy a Lightning. I like my dads 99 alot, and have really come to the conclusion I could get it mid 400's and 500+ tq and still drive it everyday. I may buy my dads off of him, not to sure. If not, i'll just pick me one up for 13k ish.. hopefully it comes together. I just don't want to rip V apart and it be unreliable

sounds like a plan to me, and just so you know there are TONS of L's with wayyyy OVER 500rwhp and are driven every day. BEFORE the end of this year............ mine will be one of them :santa_evil:

wow i have always wanted a black L good luck getting one...i looked around for awhile since i wanted to do the same as you but finding one for 13k is a hard thing to do unless its got high mileage ...then you have to deal with redoing the entire engine to make it a good platform to build a 500 hp motor on so one way or another you will be up to 18k i say spend the extra money and get a low mileage one

well my dads has a tad over a 100k on it now.. it still runs damn strong. I partialkly believe why it hasn't gone yet is the intercoolers clogged and blocks it from running full boost

well it is my dads,.. he's put 6k miles on it.. pretty much i think how its gonna work is i sell the 98, and we go out and find him a diesel 250 to tow our race car with.. and i pay the difference. Thats my proposal anyway

Good choice! I love my L. Traded my 96 cobra for it and never looked back 8)
I paid 25k for mine with 21k miles. and came with all the bolt on's, 20's, grill..
