Re: F/S 96-98 Cobra short runner
Shortrunner intakes for 96-98 cobras offer gains of up to 30hp within the rpm powerband. Peak horsepower will happen at roughly 6600rpm with the shortrunner, stock intake cars will peak at 6200. At peak you will only see 5-15hp but you will have gains of 5-30hp from 3500-6200rpm. I installed a shortrunner on my car about a month ago and can say that I definitely felt the difference, best mod I've done to the car.
NA_SVT shortens the runners about 1.5" for n/a applications, welds the belled ends back on, smoothes out the joints between the runners and lower intake, smooths and fills in the valley wells on the side of the intake for a better/smoother air entrance.
You will get these hp gains with a dyno tune but even if you don't get the car tuned for the shortrunner you will still have gains. Some guys say they feel a small tq loss in the lower rpm range (idle-3000) but other say they don't. The tune will take care of this tq loss, and also 4.10s are recommended for this but I was still running the 3.55s (just installed 4.10s) at the time I installed it and car felt faster with no feeling of tq loss. Also IMRC deletes are recommended with this also if you don't already have them.
