I have bbk aftermarket valve covers on my motor. Lately I've been noticing a small amount of smoke coming out of the hood. I've been told that these valve covers are to blame.
Its been explained to me that because the valve covers don't utilize gaskets and they instead are sealed with RTV. The RTV may be going back causing a bad seal allowing smoke to escape.
Should I just reseal the valve covers or invest in some stock covers and avoid a reccuring situation?
Thanks guys.

Make sure when you put them on RTV the gasket into the VC in 4 small spots. Make sure it stays in when putting them on. Not to hard

if the problem still occurs after you reseal the valve covers i have a set of factory romeo valve covers depending on if your heads are romeos (11-12 bolt) or windsors (13-14 bolt) that ill get rid of pretty cheap if interested. Just taking up space in the garage right now.

find out if that actually the problem. look for trails of oil coming out of them running to the exhaust manifold or try to find physical proof before jumping to conclusions and doing them when they may not be the problem.
does the smoke it smell like burning oil? exhaust? coolant?

I had a chance recently to pick a set up real cheap, I almost got them till I heard of the massive amount of issues they have and the type of gasket they use. Its a flat gasket. Cant beat the Oe design for the gasket as needed.
