i see alot of talk about 2v and 4v pertaining the V8 model stangs, i can tell that the 2v is 2 valve and the 4 v is 4 valve. which i know means the number of valves per cylinder. but is the 2v a dual cam, and the 4v a quad cam? are they differnt motors? do they have differnt power outputs?

what is the differnce in 2v and 4v?

2v = sohc...so 1 cam per bank for a total of 2 cams
4v= dohc so 2 cam per bank for a totoal of 4 cams

They are basically the same shortblock...but obviously the top ends are different.

Yes, the 4v flows a lot better than a 2v and the PI 2v (99-04) is rated at 260 hp while a NPI 2v (96-98) is rated at 215 hp- 225 hp

Even the 96-98 4v is rated at 305 hp

All this information can be found on google tho lol...

the 05+ motors are actually 3vs which make about 300 hp
